Building Traffic - The "DO" Things for Building Traffic 101Everybody wants more traffic for their web site. Isn’t that the whole objective of having a web site – to have people visit it and do business? But the difference between “just another web site” and a successful web site is the deliberate action taken for traffic building. Here are five “DO’s” for increasing your web site traffic:DO Advertise. Let your audience know that your site exists. Do that through conventional print ads, targeted email ads, and PPC (pay per click) ads. Good traffic building requires an on-going advertising effort – not just a one-shot effort. It doesn’t have to be an expensive campaign, but it does need to be consistent. DO Partner. Exchange web links with appropriate partners. Use their links on your web site and get included on theirs. Select partners that are building traffic – if no one is visiting their site, they won’t be of much use in building traffic to yours. DO Search Engines and Directories. List your site in the search engines and directories. Use appropriate keywords (most search engines offer tools to help you do this) and then submit your site for listing. Focus on the big three: Google, Yahoo! and MSN. Then look for appropriate industry associations or local commerce sites. DO Collateralize your URL. Yes, include your web site name on every piece of business paper you have – business cards, envelopes, signs, posters, brochures, stationery, word processing headers, your email signature – everything! Give some thought to incorporating your URL into your business name (or vice versa.) These “DO’s” are good foundations for your traffic building efforts. Do these and do them consistently and you’ll find that your web site traffic will grow substantially. |
