Traffic Building Myths - Part 1

Traffic building is so very important online, and it is one of the areas where so much scamming occurs, in my opinion. I think it is because newbies tend to fall for scams, because they don’t know yet what works and what doesn’t. Traffic building is one of the critical things you must do when you get online, newbies know it, and tend to fall for so many of the tricks.

Traffic building is an area that even the masters don’t always understand. They are constantly trying to come up with a new ‘angle’ to use to get traffic, or so they can sell their new ‘method’ to someone else—particularly the ‘newbies’ online. And that is where I believe a lot of the scamming occurs.

So what are some of the most common traffic myths online today?

Guaranteed traffic works. The only thing that guaranteed traffic is guaranteed to do is make the person selling it money. Guaranteed traffic does not work. In fact, not only does it not work (how many times have you bought something from some pesky little popup? – but I have heard that some of the companies pay people to sit at a computer and keep hitting your web site – you call that traffic?

The more traffic you get, the more money you make. The truth is, only buyers make you money, raw visitors do not make you money. If you cannot make money with 100 visitors a day, it is unlikely that you will make money with 1,000 or 10,000 a day – you will just have to pay for more bandwidth from your web host. I only get about 150 new visitors each day, and yet I make a fulltime income online. So I am proof positive that one does not need millions of new visitors to make a nice income online.

Now I have to tell you what some of the good sources of traffic are: article marketing, referral traffic, and blog and forum posts (and in that order).

Do you want to learn more about how I do it? I have just completed my brand new guide to article marketing success, ‘Your Article Writing and Promotion Guide‘
