Increase Targeted Web Site Traffic For Free

It does not matter how much general traffic you get to any website, if that traffic is not specifically looking for what you are selling then you’re not going to make any money.

The secret to being successful online is to go after targeted web site traffic. This type of targeted traffic will mean that visitors to your site are already interested in the topic of your site – they are prequalified to buy whatever you have to offer them.

So how do you go about increasing traffic to your website? Below I’m going to list the top methods that I personally use to increase my web site traffic.

1. Article marketing. Submitting articles is probably the easiest way to start getting more visitors to your website. It’s simple to do and best of all it doesn’t cost anything. You can write several articles on your topic of choice and submit them to the top article directory sites on the internet. Pretty soon, you’ll have people reading your article and visiting your site. The benefit being that they haven’t stumbled across your site – they clicked because they were interested i.e. they are targeted visitors.

2. Affiliate programs. If you have a product to sell, consider setting up an affiliate program for it – you can use places like clickbank that have a user base of over 100,000 active affiliates, all looking for products to promote. If you create a product that appeals to a lot of people, these affiliates could be generating you more targeted traffic to your site in a matter of days. And again, all of this traffic doesn’t cost you a single penny!

3. Joint ventures. This expands on the idea of affiliate programs, but with a joint venture you can go after someone with a large email list of customers in your niche. You can offer them half the profits if they send out an email promoting your products. Providing your product is of value to their members, many list owners will be happy to send you a ton of traffic, but more importantly – traffic you did not pay for.

4. Traffic exchanges. There are many of these free to join traffic exchanges online where you get credits in return for viewing other people’s sites. Most people use them ineffectively, but there is a way to drive more traffic to your site. You should never use your main sales page with traffic exchanges, but instead create an attractive ‘splash page’ which is little more than a ‘teaser’ ad for your site and a link that says ‘Click Here’ for more info. You can then make that page an optin page, your sales page, or even the signup page for your affiliate program.
